issue i have.
The Singapore Department of Statistics defines 'Indians' as a 'race' (or 'ethnic group'), comprising "persons of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Sri Lankan origin, such as Telugus, Tamils, Malayalees, Punjabis, Bengalis, Sinhalese, etc."[4] The term 'Indian' therefore refers broadly to people from the Indian subcontinent, rather than the Republic of India.
Among Muslim Singapore Residents, 12.4% were Indian, with most of the remainder being Malay. Among Christian Singapore Residents, 6.0% were Indian, with most of the remainder being Chinese. Within the Christian community, Indians formed 10.3% of Roman Catholics, and 3.9% of Non-Catholic Christians (mainly Protestants).
For lack of time, this info is from Wikipedia.
I have had it hearing Indian Hindus being referred to as "Indians" and Indian Muslims as "Muslims".
"Indian" is a classification of race, and "Hindu/Muslim" is a classification of religion.
i am not angry or whatever. i just get peeved. sometimes i correct, and sometimes i ignore.
this is just a matter of education.
i guess being a minority within a minority sometimes poses problems.
but hope you have understood something from this post. :)
